April is National Car Care Month! With more rain in the forecast, it’s time to shift to a new plan to prepare your car for Spring. Here are a few tips to make sure that your vehicle is road ready – rain or shine.
Check Tire Pressure
Make sure your tires are properly inflated. As air cools during the winter, tire pressures decrease, and you may have added air to them. As air gets warmer again in the spring, tire pressures can increase. Over inflated tires could cause a blow out or impact fuel economy. Use a tire pressure gauge to make sure your tires are inflated to the proper PSI (that stands for “pounds per square inch.”), or bring your vehicle to Brawley Tire and Automotive and we will be happy to check it for you.
Inspect Wiper Blades
Check your wiper blades for signs of cracking or wear from the effects of winter. Springtime can mean lots of rain for Mooresville, NC which means you will need to rely on your wiper blades to see clearly when driving in downpours.
Hit the Brakes
Winter can be hard on your brakes. If you hear grinding or squeaking noises when you brake, you should bring your car in to have them inspected. Remember, good brakes and a lot of driving experience aren’t enough to ensure that you will be able to stop quickly in wet driving conditions, so it is important to drive with caution when it’s rainy – keeping in mind that stopping distances will be longer.
Avoid the Battery Blues
Don’t give your battery the option to die on you without notice. A few cold winter mornings can wear out your battery prematurely. At Brawley Tire and Automotive, we can check your battery’s charge, to make sure it’s in good shape and if it’s not, we’ll be happy to install a new one for you.
